DESCRIPTION:This class is designed to teach students how to use map and com
 pass with confidence. It covers map reading\, terrain association\, shooti
 ng and following an azimuth\, back azimuths\, intersection\, resection\, b
 aselines\, magnetic declination\, map grids\, and using a map with a UTM c
 oordinates. The field exercise is a navigation course where the students u
 tilize what they have learned under the parachute classroom. Even if you h
 ave never held a compass before you will walk away knowing how to use a ma
 p and compass in a wilderness environment.\n\n \nThis course consists of:\
 n- Compass basics\n- Orienting a Map For North Reference\n- Traveling to a
  Target\n- Backstops\, Handrails\, and Aiming Off\n- Topo Map Basics\n- Pa
 ce Counting\n- UTM Coordinate System\n- Understanding and Adjusting for De
 clination \n\nThis course will be offered at the Indian Rock Nature Preser
