Improvised Snowshoe Making Workshop

Learn the traditional bushcraft skill of making improvised snowshoes in this hands-on 4-hour workshop taught by Jeff Hatch of Raven Wilderness School.

Designed for beginners, this workshop will introduce participants to the principles behind improvised snowshoe construction and why the ability to travel through deep snow can become an important skill in a winter survival situation. Participants will learn how to select and work with natural materials, construct a functional snowshoe frame, and use cordage and basic bushcraft techniques to bring the design together.

Along the way, we’ll discuss the larger philosophy behind bushcraft: learning to work with the resources around you, improvise when conventional equipment isn’t available, and develop the knowledge and confidence to solve problems in the wilderness.

With bushcraft skills, a little ingenuity, and an understanding of the natural world, almost anything is possible.

No previous bushcraft experience is necessary.
